Dear Mr. Kennedy,

Thank you for your letter of the 9th August forwarding your passport. I am sorry that I have not sent you an earlier acknowledgment but I have the passport under lock and key here.

It will also be necessary for you to fill up an application in triplicate for the grant of an exit permit and I enclose three copies. Could you complete these and return them to me and we will then send them in to the Passport office without troubling you further. I understand from the Crown Agents that they have not yet definitely had notice of the sailing to Hong Kong but they expect that the boat will leave about the end of september.

Yours sincerely,

(SG7.) W.B.L. Monson
